Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Carol Elizabeth, 3-17-2010
Oh, how far we've come in a year!  A few days shy of her second birthday, I thought this would be a great time to reflect on how much my little leprechaun has changed this last year.

St. Paddy's Day 2010, Carol wasn't yet walking, although I am quite certain she could have walked, had she chosen to do so.  These days, she runs every where.  Every where.  In fact, getting this year's pictures taken was quite challenging.  I had to turn the TV on, and loop Curious George, just so she would sit still for half a second.

Okay, so she's always been rather wiggly, and getting a good picture of her has always been a challenge.  I can't tell you how many red-headed blurs I've collected on my phone in the last two years!

Last year, Carol was babbling away, but nary a real word did she really make.  This year, she's talking up a storm, and saying at least a few new words a day.  And she repeats everything she hears.  (Yes, everything...)  And, although she says it like she's got a cold, she is finally saying "mommy".  ("Bobby")

Snuggling has slowly become a sport for her.  As busy as she is, snuggling was never her strong suit.  (That's why phasing out nursing was such a bitter sweet ending.)  But now, she's dishing out sweet, but often brief hugs, loves to give kisses, and will snuggle at will.

Finally, the biggest difference between then and now, is her growing independence, which is exerted each and every day.  But Carol's curiosity, zest for learning, and sweet, loving disposition have never wavered.  I look forward to seeing how much she grows by next St. Patrick's Day.
